About this gift
A 108 bead mala in jade, the rosary for keeping count while you chant, recite or repeat a mantra. It suits anyone who chants, from beginners to long-time practitioners. Because it is a natural gemstone, each mala varies slightly in size and length.
The beads are jade, about 0.6 to 0.8 cm in size, and the mala is about 60 to 80 cm long. Hindu tradition holds that you count with the right hand, the thumb flicking one bead to the next, with the mala draped over the middle finger.
Morning and evening chanting both need a mala that is ready to count. It makes a thoughtful birthday gift for a friend who chants. Choose your jade mala and begin your next round of japa.
