About this gift
Japa mala beads for a spiritual friend: a 108-bead mala that keeps count while they chant, recite or repeat a mantra. It makes a thoughtful birthday or thank you gift for anyone who practises japa or repeats mantras.
Count the 108 beads with your thumb, moving one bead at a time as you chant. The beads measure about 0.6 to 0.8 cm and the mala is about 60 to 80 cm long, though both can vary a little because of the nature of the gemstone. In Hindu tradition the mala is held in the right hand, draped over the middle finger, and the index finger is best avoided.
Chanting and counting suit a quiet morning as much as a special day. Pick this 108 bead mala and start their count.
